I love the fact that I live in an era of technology. An era when information is available on your fingertips and there is an app for just about anything that you can dream up.
One of my favourite apps throughout my pregnancy has been Baby Center. Available on your phone or tablet and even as a website, Baby Center is a treasure trove of information for the expecting mum and even for later! Bawa Groom always tells me that I am a bit strange in that I always seem to love the smallest most inconsequential attributes about people as well as things. And, when it comes to the Baby Center app, my favourite feature was the part where they compare your growing baby bump to different fruits and vegetables.
I’ve always wanted my baby’s gender to be a surprise. But, as my pregnancy progressed to week 7, I realised I hated referring to my baby as ‘it’. He or she after all were a living breathing thing and deserved an identity of their own. Co-incidentally, I was in the Baby Center app and it told me that this week my baby was the size of a lemon. This trigerred some kind of lightbulb moment and I decided to refer to the baby as ‘Lemon’.
Throughout the remaining 33 weeks, the name seems to have stuck and now in my 40th week, even though the baby bump is the size of a Leek apparently, I still call him/her Baby Lemon. I love it that the name stuck and even the grandparents-to-be as well as all my friends call him/her Lemon too! (my friends even themed baby shower games around the lemon theme much to my amusement…)
Now as the due date approaches, the only thing remaining to be seen is if its a Lemon (girl) or a Lime (boy). Stay tuned!
